Shipment of piezoelectric micro pump samples for small scale
analysis machines commenced |

Naoya Asai), whose core products are small scale diaphragm solenoid
valves for analysis and diagnosis machines will ship samples of a
miniature, lightweight diaphragm type micro pump that uses a
piezoelectric effect element for the driving source.
In
recent years the needs of analysis and diagnostic machinery for uses
such as inspection of agrichemical content in foodstuffs, DNA
examinations, the diagnosis of pathology including infectious disease
epidemics, and industrial drainage checks etc. have been increasing. At
the same time, miniaturization of these machines is sought in order for
their diffusion and portability. Most analysis and diagnoses machines
have an internal system of channels to handle the sample and reaction
reagent. The miniaturization of this is the key to miniaturizing the
whole apparatus. For that reason, the demand for miniaturization in
fluid control devices such as special solenoid valves and pumps for
analysis equipment is also increasing. Also, silent operation and low
power consumption is being sought from these fluid control devices.
Accordingly, we are bringing to the market a compact, low power
consumption and even quieter pump that employs a piezoelectric element
for the driving source.
This
same pump can self-prime and, in addition to small-sized dimensions of
25 x 25 ｘ 4.8 mm
and a light weight of 4 g, it has the low power consumption of 0.1 W
making it suitable for inclusion in all kinds of portable device. There
are two maximum flow rates of 3 ml/min and 7 ml/min and a controller is
also prepared. We also believe that these forms and characteristics are
compatible with mobile fuel cell use.
In
the future we plan to expand the line-up of flow rates and develop our
business proposing custom designed fluid control modules comprising of
this pump and our miniature diaphragm type solenoid valves.
